Wanderlust | Bring Your Yellow Leaf Hammock – Yellow Leaf Hammocks

Hammock Yoga

November 03, 2013

Here at Yellow Leaf, we are pumped to attend Wanderlust Festival one of the premier yoga festivals of the year at Lake Tahoe, July 26-29! But we as we prepare to join our fellow yogi’s for a weekend of yoga, arts, and music, we are faced by one daunting task:  packing for it.

Let’s face it:  No one likes to pack.  Folding and re-folding, in an effort to avoid the dreaded “over-packed suitcase” syndrome, can make a trip-of-a-lifetime seem more like a chore than a vacation.

Fear no more, hammockers!  Below we have compiled the essential items for what is guaranteed to be a fun-filled weekend.    Read on so you, too, can avoid  unnecessary pre-adventure stress.

  1. Yoga Gear:  This seems like an obvious, but make sure you bring enough yoga pants, tops for the entire weekend.  Having said that, you don’t need your entire yoga wardrobe!   Instead, bring a combo of pants, tanks, underclothes and most importantly, pack layers!  A light sweater or long-sleeve-shirt will serve you well on those chilly nights.  Tip:  decide on a color palette of 2-3 colors allows for easy “mix-and-matching” -- and saved luggage space.
  2. Your trusty yoga mat:  While some yoga festivals provide mats, avoid the hassle (and fees!) and bring your own.  Make sure to pack a block if you need one.    Tip:  We recommend checking out the super-durable (and gorgeous!) yoga bags and straps from I Am,  a social enterprise that  employs Maya women in Guatemala, allowing them to generate a sustainable income.
  3. Casual Clothing:  For when you are not perfecting your Warrior poses and Sun Salutations, you’ll need comfy clothes for all of the other fun activities planned, including: awesome concerts (we hear that Ziggy Marley is on this year’s line-up!)  art, meditation, and cooking exhibits.  Tip:  Cotton dresses and linen pants are easy-breezy and require little maintenance.  And make sure not to forget a bright-colored scarf and hat!
  4. Toiletries:  Bring your own travel-sized shampoo and conditioner, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste and any medications you need.  Tip:  Throw in a jar of Tiger Balm Muscle Rub to soothe sore muscles after a long day of practice.
  5. Your Yellow Leaf Hammock:  Last but not least, don’t leave your house without your ultra-comfy, portable, Yellow Leaf Hammock.... the perfect accessory for Wanderlust! Each Yellow Leaf Hammock comes with a personalized tote, making it perfect to throw in your bag or carry in your hand.  Head on over to the hammock shop to find your perfect fit!
